Silver Leaf home remodel encompassed not just the kitchen, but all adjacent living areas!
Moving from Manhattan to Colorado, this client was quick to remodel their new home. Upon purchase this home had a rustic mountain aesthetic and it was very heavy on the wood accents.
With innovation and sustainability in mind, this couple sought to modernize the interior. Take a look at the before and after photos – the transformation will stun you!
EXISTING CONDITIONS
The main floor included a wing with three segregated rooms – a dining room, a den and a kitchen with a breakfast nook.
A wall heavy with wood, stone and a fireplace divided the den and dining room. The kitchen had tile flooring while the den and dining room had wood floors.
The main living room was on a separate floor. That area was carpeted.

DESIGN + TRANSFORMATION
The first (and largest) remodel came in 2015, opening the floor plan and modernizing the interior. All walls were removed to create one large room. Structural elements were embraced and left exposed, hence the column in the island. Wood floors were carried throughout the kitchen. All kitchen cabinets were reused and the kitchen island was expanded from its existing footprint to 10′ x 10′. Custom cabinets were built to match the existing ones in order to expand the island. Demoed materials such as doors were reused in construction of the island as well. The carpet was replaced with wood in the main living room to maintain wood floors throughout.
A second (smaller) renovation came in 2018, adding the custom wooden bar at the end of the island.
